A Complete Grad Photo Guide For UNT Grads

If you're graduating from the University of North Texas, first of all - congratulations, Go Mean Green! You've worked hard to get here, and your graduation portraits should reflect that. The good news is that UNT's campus in Denton is genuinely beautiful, full of green spaces, iconic architecture, and spots that scream 'UNT pride' in every frame.

As a professional grad photographer who has shot hundreds of graduation portraits across DFW — including dozens right here at UNT — I've put together my personal list of the best locations on and around the UNT campus for your graduation photos.

#1 The Eagle Statue (The Icon)

You can't do UNT grad photos without the Eagle. This is your non-negotiable shot. The bronze eagle statue near the Union Building is the most recognizable landmark on campus and the one photo you'll want framed on your wall. Shoot it at golden hour (about an hour before sunset) for the warmest light.

#2 The Admin Building Steps

The broad stone steps of the Union Building create a natural tiered structure — perfect for solo shots, group shots with friends, and cap-and-gown toss photos. The symmetry photographs beautifully and the light hits well in the morning.

#3 The Library (Willis Library Exterior)

Willis Library offers a classic collegiate backdrop with beautiful brick architecture. Shoot on the north side in the afternoon for soft, even light. The wide walkways in front are great for full-body portraits showing off your regalia.

#4 The Admin Building Gardens

The variety of vibrant colors from the flowers during the Spring semester makes for a perfect shot during golden hour. Truly embraces the beautiful nature on UNT's campus.

#5 The Gazebo

Centered in the heart of UNT Denton Campus in the quad, the Gazebo makes for a great multi-pose photo location. From leaning against the pillars, to taking a seat at the bench - this is a must-do photo location.

#6 The Quad Fountains

The long rectangular fountains at the quad are sometimes a forgotten stop for graduates' spot checklist. Pro Tip: Make sure to not cover the fount in the background - off-center yourself a bit to add a touch of the campus into your photo.

#7 The Clock Tower

Sometimes missed, the iconic UNT Clock Tower is ICONIC for photos. Position yourself on the opposite side of the Quad Fountains to be able to capture you looking towards the tower.

#8 Scrappy Statue

Did you really graduate from UNT if you didn't sit on Scrappy's lap? (Don't do that during the Summer, the metal gets REALLY hot). If you're really big into school spirit - stop by for a cute photo you can look back at and laugh.

#9 University Sign (Welcome Center)

The only good university sign that is worth the walk and will make it onto the gram is the one in-front of the Welcome Center. Capture photos here, both standing in-front of the sign, to the side, and even sitting on the wall.

#10 The UNT Letters

Finally the best for last - the iconic, vibrant, UNT Letters. Located in-front of the Welcome Center, these letters are typically grad favorite for takinga lot of photos at. Whether you're standing in-front, popping a bottle of champaign, standing in the U, etc. - these truly make green look so good on you.

How to Book Your UNT Graduation Photos

I've captured graduation portraits for UNT students across all five colleges — Business, Education, Music, Science, and more. I travel to Denton regularly for sessions and know every corner of that campus. (I had a lot of my friends go to UNT during undergrad, so know the campus like it's home)

Packages start at $299 for a 1-hour session with 100–200 fully edited portraits, delivered in 4–7 business days. Sessions can be split with up to 5 friends, making it one of the most affordable ways to get professional graduation photos in Denton.
